Praise the Lord God Almighty

1 Chronicles 16: 7-36
"Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his bretheren. Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations; Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac; And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it. And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, Saying, touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; bring an offering and come before him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein. Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. and all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord."
v8 "Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known His deeds among the people." This is no measly quiet prayer of thanks. This is a Declaration! Make known His deeds! Do we do this? are we grateful? Do we share all God has done? Make it known?

v9 "Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works." Sing! We should be singing our praises unto God talking about ALL of His wondrous works. This is so important, do we praise ALL that he does for us? Every time? David is telling us that we need to praise God for EVERYTHING in our lives. And I think David is someone certainly worth listening to. 1 Samuel 13:14b "the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be a captain over his people."  We know David's story, all his mistakes and failures. Those didn't earn him his title. His praise did. David loved and praised the Lord. Without shame, without holding back. He proclaimed the Lord with all that he had. I want to be like that. I want to remember! v12 "Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;" I want to surrender all to God! Be a man after His own heart. no more holding back!

v21-22 "He suffered no man to do them wrong: yeah, he reproved kings for their sakes, Saying, touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm." God looks out for His people.

v23 "Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day is salvation." We are never to stop our singing to the Lord! He asks us to proclaim His name unto the day of salvation!

v24 "Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations." We are told to declare the Glory of God to all people! We can't just reserve our singing and praise for just when we are surrounded by those who know, in our churches or homes. We are to take the wonder and Glory of God out among those who have not yet heard! To all nations!

v25-27 "For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place." He is above all else. Glory and honour are to be found in the presence of our Lord. It is there that we will find strength and gladness.

v28-30 "Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved." We are to give to our God. He desires our praise, and asks that we sacrifice for Him. I want my life to be that sacrifice. He can have me, I SURRENDER!! My life will be worship unto my God. I shall not be ashamed of Him!

v31-33 "Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, the Lord reigneth. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therin. Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth." The world is declaring His glory, everywhere we look. The seas, the fields, the forests, Everywhere I look I can see the glory of God! The majesty of the creator of the universe!

v34 "O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever." I will give thanks to my God! The one who has shown us His unending mercy!

v35-36 "And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord." He has given us Salvation! Gathered us to Him through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is our protection.

Blessed be the name of the LORD!!! Amen
